Hands-on: Chopard Alpine Eagle Flying Tourbillon

One of Chopard's latest expansions to its still fresh replica Chopard Alpine Eagle watches collection is the new 2022 Chopard Alpine Eagle Flying Tourbillon. I love this high-end timepiece because it's easy to understand, executes satisfactorily, and is very practical for everyday wear. In fact, Chopard promotes the Alpine Eagle Flying Tourbillon as a (recognized) rare watch, both Poinçon de Genève (Geneva Seal) and COSC Observatory certification. In a sense, the latter rating is a bit redundant, but since Chopard does seem to want to label the dial with a "chronometer", COSC certification is a nice touch for this tourbillon-based precision timepiece extra elements.

While the Alpine Eagle Flying Tourbillon may not be the "tweetest" or "thinst" one, it's a very eye-catching package that does a lot of things well once you put it on your wrist. People want to wear a tourbillon on their wrist for a variety of reasons. Maybe for status, or because they like the animation of the rotating adjustment system, but wearing a tourbillon among other sensible casual luxury watches for sale is the goal of many collectors. So that's more or less Chopard's idea here (a logical competitor to this product is the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon).

The case is slightly smaller in size and made from a special metal alloy that is 41mm wide and 8mm thick, which Chopard calls Lucent Steel. It has a slightly different finish to the more standard 316L steel, and the tint looks a little whiter. I agree that Lucent steel is a good case material. The 8mm thickness might be enough for Chopard to claim this is an "ultra-thin" timepiece, but the company doesn't usually use such a boastful adjective in its name, which I tend to appreciate. The sides of the Alpine Eagle case give it a very stylish look, and the one piece bracelet is well made and has a unique personality that would easily mark it as a Chopard product (as opposed to competitors). What's more, the case is water resistant to 100 meters.

The textured blue dial is made from a block of gold with a spiral texture that Chopard calls the "eagle's iris". The gold base is then plated with blue to achieve the desired color. I also feel that this is a tourbillon watch suitable for pairing with jeans, which of course is not wrong. The dial also features Roman numeral hour indicators and a flying tourbillon window opening at 6 o’clock. No extra clutter, no extra complications, just the clear time of the textured dial and Swiss-made rotating tourbillon system.Jacob & Co. ASTRONOMIA TOURBILLON

While the Alpine Eagle isn't technically part of Chopard's more elite L.U.C collection, it does have a movement partially produced by the brand's movement maker, L.U.C, visible through the back of the sapphire crystal case. The movement is produced in-house by Chopard and is known as the movement L.U.C 96.24-L. The movement consists of 189 parts and operates at an unusual frequency of 3.5Hz (25,200). It has a power reserve of 65 hours between the two stacked mainspring barrels, which is really impressive considering the movement is only 3.3mm thick. Finally, the movement is a self-winding movement with a 22k gold micro-rotor system. This L.U.C family mechanism also happens to be very beautiful, with a traditional bridge construction and corresponding hand sanding and decoration.high quality replica watches

The addition of these two certifications helps demonstrate the merits of these sports to those who don't have the eyes to see it. The COSC Chronometer certification is about the accuracy of the movement, and the more challenging and rare Geneva Seal certification covers three aspects. First, it proves that the movement is produced in the geographical canton of Geneva. Second and third, it certifies that the case watch meets certain performance standards and ensures certain aesthetic and decorative standards. There are few, if any, "cheap" Poinçon de Genève timepieces out there.

If you're in the market for a casual, no-frills luxury watch that's at least somewhat different from the norm, the Chopard Alpine Eagle Flying Tourbillon is probably one of the relatively few items on your list. Chopard is a good company, so the products are reliable, and these watches haven't had such a strong consumer demand that you can't get them in the retail market. However, Chopard offers a very competitive list of technical specifications, materials and designs, and often very reasonable prices, making products such as the Alpine Eagle reference 298616-3001 ideal for many buyers.
